The Law Of Attraction – You Attract What You Are
The Law of Attraction, I have been fascinated by it for a long time and I rarely come across people who are fully aware of how much the Law of Attraction impacts their day to day life. Regardless of when we do things consciously or subconsciously, every bit of our existence, we are acting as human magnets sending vibrational frequency out of our thoughts and emotions and attracting back more of what we have sent out.
Unfortunately, many of us are blind to this potential that rests within us – making it all too easy to leave our thoughts and emotions unchecked. This sends out the wrong thoughts and attracts more unwanted emotions and events into our lives.
Having said this, I’ve learned that the Law of Attraction to be true after experiencing personal and hearing others’ failures and successes.
Is The Law Of Attraction Even Real?
The Law Of Attraction can be seen throughout history, which was first thought to have been taught to people by the immortal Buddha: “What you have become is what you have thought.” There is an age-old belief among spiritualists that you draw to your life what you put out.
Recently, inspiring writers such as Deepak Chopra, Esther and Jerry Hicks and Wayne Dyer have shed light on these ideas by introducing three books: “The Law of Attraction“, “Ask and It is Given“ and “The Power of Intention.”
Then “The Secret“ by Rhonda Byrne, brought together many thought leaders in this world and spread the experience of different individuals supporting this principle. In “The Secret” we learned that this is based on scientific principles referring to quantum physics supporting this argument: “That you will attract to yourself whatever you put out.”
Energy, Vibration, Chemistry
“Like attracts like”, this is stated in the law of attraction. All attractions are based on energy, vibration, chemistry, or whatever you may call it, it’s all the same thing. You send out a frequency, and it attracts someone or a situation of the same frequency.
People with a high frequency, people who love and value themselves, are happy people who vibrate on a high frequency and induces a positive response in others. While people with a low frequency, people who are insecure and self-abandoning, induce feelings of anxiety in others if we ourselves are anxious.
People who are positive, open, giving, caring and kind to themselves and others are not attracted to people who are negative, closed, and needy of approval and attention. While no one intentionally seeks out someone who is closed, negative and needy, however, if this is you, this is what you will attract into your life.
Attraction And Your Level Of Emotional Health
I hear this so often: “I’m a good person, but I keep meeting the wrong people in my life”, followed up with “Am I doing something wrong?”
When you learn to value yourself and take responsibility for your feelings, you’ll be drawn to people who also value themselves and want to share love rather than get love. You will no longer end up with someone who judges, blames or sees them self as a victim. You will just not find this person attractive, as they are not at your level of emotional health.
Of course, this means you need to take action if you want to increase your level of emotional health, of which some are learning:
- To be present in your body instead of stuck in your mind avoiding your emotions;
- To acknowledge what your feelings are telling you rather than protecting against them with various addictions and self-judgments;
- To take action in your own behalf rather than expecting others to do this for you.
Underlying all of these ideas is the idea of connection – we are connected within and without. What we think and feel affects not only how we will act but how others will act as well. The depth of our feelings and actions is a critical variable in “attracting” what we want in our lives.

With various experiences I have had in life and after reading this blog, I can confirm that the law of attraction exists. You actually attract what you are.
Hi Rodgers, I feel the same way 🙂 thank you!
I loved the secret and I do live my life with a level of principles – I really enjoyed this read! I will have to check out the rest as soon as possible
Hi Diana, thank you and it will be worth your time 🙂
Very inspiring! I needed to read this today. It’s so true and so many people don’t realize the power they have within to attract certain things. I have been working on this for years and I grow more and more. It’s amazing!
Hi Ashley, that’s amazing! Do you have a way how you do that? I think we can all learn from each other 🙂
I like how you simplified the law of attraction. I’m interested in this topic and want to learn more. I will check out the books you suggested. I need to be more mindful about my own energy and what I am putting out there. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Darcy, definitely! I think we can all be more mindful on this topic, me as well. Thanks for dropping by and you’re welcome 🙂
Very timely and well put Ye – drawing to ourselves others (that if we thought about it we do not often want) and making our bed in life. What you say also – every thing we do has a result (my words) like a ripple effect. Thanks for the reminder – always happy to hear what you have to say.
Thanks Deborah! Great to hear from you again and you’re very welcome 🙂
Very inspiring! I already read this book when I was not yet active with my online activities and I know it helped me a lot to get my current job. I just borrowed that book and return it to the owner but I learned the concept and incorporate the ideas into my everyday living.
Sometimes the outside forces are much stronger, so, I think I need to have a copy of this book to read it again. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful post.
What a fantastic article! I’ve been reading a lot about the laws of attraction and there is a lot of value in this subject. I love how you simplify the principles and make it easy to understand and follow love your work!
Thanks Katy 🙂 Appreciate it!
I couldn’t agree more and continue to explore this topic myself. I have had so many instances where I have written down a quite outrageous intention and it has come true and more recently have been visualizing my passion meditating. I even just last week went to a Yoga course where we developed a Sankalpa or intention for ouselves. In one week I have had 2 huge opportunities offered to me to do exactly what I intended one which is so big that I am a little scared it is too much too soon. But i am going to grasp what is given to me and learn. The law of attraction is real.
Really curious to experience is really law of attraction exists, I heard many times about Law of attraction and maybe unknowingly I experienced it too, but it would be great if I experience it with full awareness , thanks for the post
When you become aware of it, it will changeyour whole mindset towards life 🙂
Like lots of people mentioned above, you’ve written a really concise, easy to read explanation of the concept of the law of attraction. Thanks for that! I find it an interesting concept because the outcome of ‘like attracts like’ describes what most/many people observe throughout life (even if they’re not correlating their own misfortune sometimes with things within their control, they’ll label that dynamic with others). I’ve observed and experienced the outcome too, in both seeming to attract negative or positive and can link that to my state of mind which influences my choices and behaviour and therefore how I interact with people/the world. My perception and understanding of the mechanisms and causes is not an energetic one, though. What I perceive and what psychology, neuroscience, behavioural science and relationship theories identify as the causes of ‘like attracts like’ are often directly observable cause and effect mechanisms based on behaviour and predictable emotional and mental responses (even if minute, complex, hard to perceive unless you’re alert to the observations). If each of us develops our emotional and mental awareness and that helps us to lead a more fulfilling life, then it’s that outcome that matters most, though! Thanks for the post!
Thank you Sunday 🙂 And thanks for your valuable insights.
Thank you for sharing this post. I’ve always been impressed by the law of attraction.
You’re welcome 🙂 Hope this has given you new insights.
Great article Ye-Chen. The law of attraction is very real, and you just explained it very well too. Thank you for such a great article…I have some people who need to read this that I’ll be sending it to.
Thanks Kari! Appreciate it 🙂
Ye-chen I have met many people in my (lengthy) (so it seems!) life and can attest you do attract by your attitude. Likewise I have been attracted to those particularly with a happy and positive way. I don’t always know who will come into my sphere of life – but look upon it as an adventure a learning of people – who I often regard as “books” – something new to discover within. Some books you can’t judge by the cover – others it is better that you “do not go there”… Saying that without judgement since some of us aren’t ready to handle the tetchy, difficult or downright h ornery people in life who are stepping out there own jagged pathway. Thank you for the insightful post!
Hi Deborah, the way you described people as books is exactly my view as well. Thanks for sharing your insight on this topic 🙂
FYI… I cannot read your featured books… it’s like this : “[text_with_frame id=”43b27c07a315e8d2fd915cc41fefd94b” content=”‹¨›ul‹˜›‹¨›li‹˜›‹¨›em‹˜›What‹³›s do you think about the Law of Attraction? ‹¨›/em‹˜›‹¨›/li‹˜›‹¨›li‹˜›‹¨›em‹˜›What is your experience with it? ” etc…
Hi Vinneve, that’s weird. Thanks for letting me know. If anyone else is experiencing this issue, please let me know.
You’re welcome. Cheers!
I’ve always been a believer of the law of attraction. Its such an amazing concept. Thank you for this read!
Hi Sasha, it’s indeed amazing 🙂
A person’s mindset is so powerful. I hadn’t heard of the Law of Attraction book until you mentioned it. Thanks for sharing!
It will be worth the read 🙂
Very interesting articled and so well explained! I believe in Law of Attraction since a while now, and you made it clear in my mind ^^
Thank you and I’m glad it helped 🙂
It’s amazing the people and opportunities you will attract by taking out time to improve upon yourself. Like attracts like.
Exactly! It keeps suprising me that people overlook on this principle.
Thank you so much for following me. I have also followed you for your information I have changed the name of my sight as my identity and message become increasingly clear, and I expect to keep evolving. But for the foreseeable future the sites name is: ivyleaguexstreetwalker.com. I’d love to know your thoughts!
Hi there, you have an interesting story which I don’t come across that often. I can’t say much about the name. If the name represents who your are and you feel more comfortable with it, then go with it. It’s more important how you create your story around your name / personal brand / reputation.
Hi Ye,
I am very familiar with the Law of Attraction and at one point feel it was working very well for me. At one point everything feel a part and I have not been able to get my business back to where it was. For me I think that maybe I am trying to do to many things at once and not focusing on just one thing. However, my ultimate goal and passion has not changed. I also think that my feelings are not in line with my thoughts. Appreciate any thoughts you might have.
Hi Joyce, great hearing from you and thanks for sharing your story. With trying to do everything at once, do they all contribute to reaching your goal? Maybe it’s an idea to prioritise according to the level of urgency and importance per task, at some point everything may seem important but not urgent. It’s good you still have your goal and passion in sight. If things don’t improve, try taking a step back and adopt a bird view to see if the total picture makes sense. I hope this helps and feel free to ask me any questions 🙂
Thank you Ye for the advice. Yes, everything I am doing contributes to the end result.
Well put. Even though some people think LOA is “out there” or “woo woo,” on a fundamental level it makes perfect sense and I see it every day. People that are always complaining about how bad life is seem to always be attracting negative things to them whereas positive people are ones that take action. I have also noticed that when I focus on what I CAN do instead of what I can’t and what I HAVE instead of lack, more opportunities open up for me and I continue to ride on that positive momentum.
Hi Kate, thank you! I feel the same way 🙂 thank you for stopping by!
I truly do believe in the law of attraction, which is why we created a vision board last spring. Seeing it everyday and deliberately reading the words—sometimes aloud—I believe has helped me stay focused on our goals (even when we’re tempted not to). It has given me a roadmap and helps me be last-focused on what needs to get done to make it happen. There are several goals that we have met already from the vision board, so I would say that it is working and that we are attracting those things that we have focused on. Thanks for reminding me how important being clear on what we spend time thinking about, so that we can have the success that we want.
Hi Vox, that’s amazing! I wouldn’t expect any less from you since your awesome guest post. I’m confident in you achieving your goals. You keep inspiring us 🙂 Thank you for that!
Thank you so much for sharing this article. There’s a lot of misconceptions out there about the law of attraction. This makes it really easy to understand. Basically, you are what you think. If you want your life to change, then you need to change your thoughts! We wish more people would understand that they’re more powerful than they know.
That’s exactly my point! Thank you for stopping by 🙂
